The Border Collies - Unleashed! (2004) 320Kbps

The Collies comprise of six members, four hailing from Co. Sligo, one from Luton, England and one from North Mayo. As individual artists the members have already established themselves as very talented musicians throughout the country and abroad but combined together as a team they definitely have plenty of Bark and Bite.

The very talented Colm O'Donnell (nicknamed Shep) is the founder of the Band. Colm has not only established himself as being one of the finest traditional singers today, but has many all Ireland credits to his name on concert flute, tin whistles, as well as singing. He has toured with Comhaltas many times, and Music Network and has taught Traditional music and song all over Ireland and abroad.

Tubbercurry man Declan Payne (Fido) plays the Piano Accordion with the group. Declan is highly regarded as an excellent player and teacher of the instrument. He has toured with Gurteen group Ceoltoiri Coleman and Music Network. Declan is holder of a Senior All Ireland title on the Piano Accordion.

Playing Banjo and Mandolin on the group is Declan's wife, Theresa O'Grady. Theresa (Tess) is a well renowned figure on the traditional circuit in Ireland and her native Luton , and is regarded as one of the finest Banjo players in the country. She has traveled the world, playing, and teaching the Banjo, and has toured with Comhaltas many times. Theresa is a holder of Senior Banjo, duet, and trio All Ireland titles.

Shane McGowan (Bruce) is one of the accompanists with the group. He hails from Knocknashee in South Sligo . He is the son of the great flute player Harry McGowan. Shane is an exceptional guitarist, and plays many different styles of music. He is one of the dominant figures on the Dublin scene, playing regularly in venues throughout the city but also finds time to teach at many workshops. Shane has been featured accompanying many great artists on the television programmes, namely “The Late Late Show” and “Open House” .

Mayo woman Maria Lynn (Sal) plays Piano and Bouzouki with the group. She has taught the Piano at many musical festivals both in Ireland and abroad. She is a member of Ceoltoiri Coleman throughout the summer months, and tours abroad regularly with her ceili band, “The Heather Breeze Ceili Band”. Maria is a much sought after accompanist and teacher.

To complete the group we have on Bodhrán and vocals Siobhán O'Donnell. Siobhán (Sheeba) is the eldest daughter of Colm and is the youngest member of the group. Siobhán's fine Bodhrán playing adds to the pulsating rhythms, made by the group. She has toured North America and Europe with many groups, and is also a holder of All-Ireland titles.
